Le Massif de Charlevoix overlooks a spectacular view of the St. Lawrence river and boasts the longest skiable vertical in Eastern Canada. People say that when you are skiing Le Massif, it feels as though you may ski straight into the St. Lawrence river. The area experiences a natural snowfall of more than 6 meters, so Le Massif is the place to go in Eastern Canada if you are looking for fresh powder. With 48 trails over 410 skiable acres and 34 acres of off-piste skiing, everyone will be entranced with Le Massif. Runs are as long as 4.8 km, varied glades ramp up the level of challenge and there is an intermediate/advanced level terrain park. As a national alpine skiing training centre, Le Massif de Charlevoix is able to hold speed events (downhill and giant slalom) on slopes that total 2 200 metres in length and where the steepest incline is 64%.
There are 4 lifts including 3 high-speed quads. The resort will continue to grow with major expansion projected through 2013, including one trail that will run along the river from Baie-Saint-Paul to Le Massif. There are 4 dining areas each catering to differing styles and 2 pubs with one at base and one at summit. Amenities including rentals and repairs, snow school, daycare, ski patrol, an exclusive Rossignol boutique and guided tours of the mountain are all available for your convenience. Le Massif is only an hour from the city, so very commutable but there are some nearby small town inns to stay at which are very charming.
