Kimberley Alpine Resort is part of the Purcell Range of the Canadian Rockies, located just minutes from the city of Kimberley. Kimberley is a German influenced city, and you will find plenty of gingerbread style architecture, accordions and the largest cuckoo clock in Canada, amidst 1800 acres of terrain, 80 named runs and glades and an average of 400 cm of snow. The scenery is spectacular and Kimberley gets plenty of sun to soak up while you ski or ride all that great snow. The resort is spread over 2 mountain faces and has a slightly larger percentage of easy and intermediate trails, which makes it really appealing to people, however there are also plenty of exciting glades and steeper terrain for the experts. Kimberley Alpine has recently spent over millions on extensive brush-cutting and mowing to make the trails and glades wider and more skier and rider friendly – even for the novice. They have succeeded in creating the largest gladed skiing area in Canada! Check out the Black Forest, accessible off of the Tamarack chair, for glade skiing that all levels can enjoy! Other great winter sports at Kimberley include cross-country skiing, dog sledding, and snow shoeing and if you like you can stay at the ski-in-out lodge right on site. Kimberley has all of the amenities and is a great family resort.

Kimberley Alpine Resort is our favorite family destination in the Canadian Rockies. You find great ski in and ski out lodging at reasonable rates and each usually has a hot tub or pool for the kids. The Kimberley Alpine Resort is one of a few resorts that has dedicated ski learning area where there is not the cross traffic of all of those speeding experts through the area. Also enjoy relaxing in the plaza with the family at the BBQ area. Great terrain- over 1800 acres with lots of fun trails for the kids.
Resorts of the canadian rockies or RCR as they are often known operate Kimberley, as well as some other canadian ski resorts. RCR offers poor customer service and completely ripped me off. I purchased a ISKI discount pass directly from their HQ in Calgary, tried to activate the card but it would not let me. I emailed them asking for help only to have a person named Erin reply four days later and conveniently the day following the season closure of the resort telling me the card is now expired and non refundable. Such poor service is inexcusable and fraud since I am out $45 and received nothing in return.
Deal with them and their resorts (Kimberley, Fernie, Nakiska or Kicking horse) at your own peril knowing that if you have a problem, their customer service will give you the run around and rip you off. As for me, B.C. is spoiled for choice as far as other ski resorts go. As well, Big Mountain in Whitefish, MT is not that far from Kimberley and offers significantly better service, skiing and value all round.
