Summit Lake Ski and Snowboard Area is a small volunteer run resort south of Nakusp, which offers an affordable skiing & boarding adventure in a decidedly family-oriented atmosphere. Summit Lake Ski and Snowboard Area offers you all you need from a great beginner area and bunny hill, right up to a good selection of expert runs. The runs are groomed daily and there is a daylodge with a cafeteria and a ski shop with rentals available. Lessons are also available and there is a Nancy Greene Racing School run out of Summit Lake Ski Hill.
Summit Lake itself and and the marsh are the headwaters for Bonanza Creek which drains into Slocan Lake. There are not many people around, but you’ll see lots of natural wildlife, including bears, beaver, deer, and more. This is a beautiful spot in the Kootenays, but just note that there are not other amenities on site and they only accept cash (*that’s right no credit or debit).
