We recently returned from a week at blue mountain for our honeymoon. This was the most amazing trip I have ever been on! I put 3/5 for snow condition, but that is not entirely blue mountain’s fault as we went the first week that the slopes were open and although there were limited runs open, they were working day and night to get it running while we were there. I hadn’t been skiing in a few years, so we took the discovery ski package which was a pretty decent value considering it included everything you needed plus awesome instructors. Even though it was supposed to be a group lesson, my husband and I had our own instructor to ourselves (Pam) and she was just amazing! The difficulty level at blue mountain is much superior to other ski resorts I have been to, so expect that a blue run there is about a black diamond at smaller resorts! With 36 runs, however, you will never run out of options no matter what your ski level.

Our biggest advice, however would be that you HAVE TO HAVE a credit card for a deposit or they make you pay out 600 dollars cash for a deposit if you are renting.

Right at the base of the mountain is an entire quaint village of restaurants, shops, bars, etc. and our favourite, Rusty’s bar which has the most amazing atmosphere and staff you could ever ask for! There is also endless possibilities of lodging right at the base of the mountain if you are planning on a long time stay. The rates are fairly pricey but definitely worth their cost. We stayed at the Mosaic and it is just absolutely stunning, beautiful new and cozy and perfectly decorated, great service and complete with a kitchenette and fire place (if you are planning on bringing your own food which you will probably want to, because the food is outrageously priced) be warned that anything 1 bedroom or smaller has a puny little bar fridge with a sliver of a freezer and minimal cupboard space. The mosaic even had an outdoor heated pool and hot tub which was exclusive to that building and was very private and we frequented it regularly even in the middle of a blizzard. There is also a sauna and fitness room.

Just near blue mountain, there are also lots of other things to do if you don’t want to just ski/snowboard day and night, we personally went horse back riding and dog sledding which were both a blast and there’s also snowshoeing trails, the plunge water park and much more! We had so much fun that we stayed an additional night and even after that didn’t want to leave! We will definitely be going again and recommend it to anyone willing to pay the high costs for an amazing vacation!

They’ve done a great job on the village at Blue. Gives you a bunch of options to do if the lift lines get really bad in the afternoon. Grab lunch, grab a beer, spend some money.
