With a vertical drop of 1,220 m, Panorama has one of North America’s longest vertical descents. The average annual snowfall is about 480 cm, plus there is a great snowmaking system on many of the runs, which lends itself to a long season at Panorama. In contrast to all of the other resorts in the Kootenays who have a rustic and mellow feel to them rooting from the mining history of the area, Intrawest has injected a little more polish into Panorama. The resort definitely focuses on the intermediate level skier, with over half of the runs for intermediate skiers. Since most slopes are below treeline, there are a number of gladed trails for intermediate skiers to try.
Don’t worry though, more advanced skiers or snowboarders will enjoy Panorama for its almost 1,000 acres of backcountry style of terrain in a bowl called Taynton. This was once strictly for heliskiing.
There are 9 lifts and Panorama has devoted a full mile to its terrain park which features a mix of tables, hip jumps, spines, rails, boxes and jibs. Rk heliski at Panorama Mountain Village comprises 1,500 square kilometres terrain in the beautiful Purcell Mountains. Expert skiers and snowboarders can enjoy stunning scenery, the beauty of the glaciers and phenomenol glade skiing.
At Panorama you can also enjoy its compact village with condos, hotels, all the amenities you could ask for on top of the Panorama Springs pools, Canada’s biggest mountainside hot tubs and pools.
